The 11th edition of the International Festival of Rhythms of the World will be held from July 25 to August 4 next in Chicoutimi.

Honor to the multiculturalism. From 25 July to 4 August, the International Festival of Rhythms of the World will take over the charming scenery of the Saguenay Lac-Saint-Jean to celebrate its 11th edition in Chicoutimi. More than 1,000 artists will succeed on stage. Karim Ouellet will scatter the festival with Senegalese’ sounds, Rachid Taha will revive the Algeria’s Rai and Paul Kunigis will permeate the crowds of the Polish music. In addition to these artists, many other talents will be honored such as Sista Monica, the Habana Café group coming straight from Cuba and the Mexican quartet Mariachi Oro Blanco. Latin language and music will be worthily celebrated with the Italian-Argentine group El Hispalis. Wriggle your hips to the sound of African drumming dance troupe Tribaa. Dressed in traditional costumes, the dancers will be accompanied by traditional instruments such as the djembe, the krin the doundoun or the Sokho.

The festival also provides a family area located along the banks of the Saguenay River. Younger ones can relax in an open air playground. Finally, artisans’ booths will be at the disposal of the curious from July 26 to August 4, between 12 am to 22 pm.
